New Zealand Olympic Travel Ticket Terms and Conditions
Please read these Terms and Conditions carefully. By purchasing a Ticket you are certifying that you have read, understood and accepted these Terms and Conditions and the Tokyo 2020 Terms and Conditions of Ticket Purchase.
The New Zealand Olympic Committee and House of Travel Christchurch City Limited together trading as New Zealand Olympic Travel (“NZOT”) have been appointed an Authorised Ticket Reseller for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, on behalf of the Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games(“Tokyo 2020”).
Any ticket request or purchase is subject to confirmation of availability by NZOT.
NZOT can only accept purchases from New Zealand residents over 18 years of age via registration online at www.nzolympictravel.co.nz . Proof of New Zealand residency may be requested at any stage through the ticket selling process and will be required by all ticket purchasers at the time of ticket collection.
Full payment for tickets confirmed must be made at the time specified using the online system (additional transaction fees may apply depending on the method of payment selected). Purchases will not be confirmed if full payment is not received.
Ticket purchases cannot be accepted without confirmation that these Event Ticket Terms and Conditions and Tokyo 2020 Terms and Conditions of Ticket Purchase and Use and accepted by the purchaser and all persons on whose behalf any tickets are purchased (together and individually referred to as “you” or “client(s)” in these Terms and Conditions). All communications will be with the person who makes the ticket purchase.
Not all sports, events, or ticket categories will be available to request or purchase in the initial or subsequent ticket sales periods. Any request made in writing to change the category of ticket(s) allocated to a client will be considered subject to the availability of New Zealand’s ticket allocation. NZOT cannot guarantee any request for tickets can be fulfilled.
Due to restrictions on stadium capacities and the limited number of tickets being allocated to the “Authorised Ticket Reseller”, it is very likely that tickets for certain prime events including, but not limited to, Ceremonies, Track Cycling, Swimming and Triathlon, and the key finals for most sports will be significantly oversubscribed.
If you are forced to cancel your travel arrangements, upon request from the ticket purchaser in writing, NZOT will do its best to on-sell your tickets to other clients. Under these circumstances, it may be possible for us to offer you a partial or full refund of your ticket payment excluding the handling fee (however there are no guarantees that any refund will be available). In normal circumstances, these refunds will only be payable 4 – 6 weeks after the end of the Games
Should you be offered, or have the ability to purchase tickets under an official Tokyo 2020 “Athlete Friends and Family Programme” option and have already purchased tickets through NZOT, your purchased tickets remain non-refundable. Upon request from the ticket purchaser in writing, we will do our best to on-sell your tickets to other clients. Under these circumstances, it may be possible for us to offer you a partial or full refund of your ticket payment excluding the handling fee (however there are no guarantees that any refund will be available). In normal circumstances, these refunds will only be payable 4 – 6 weeks after the end of the Games.
All clients with confirmed tickets must collect their tickets from our designated New Zealand Ticket Collection Centre in Tokyo. The Ticket Collection Centre is expected to be open two (2) days prior to the Games commencing and will remain open for the duration of the Games. Full details will be confirmed two (2) months prior to the Games, including the location and opening hours of the Ticket Collection Centre. Photo identification and appropriate/current proof of New Zealand residency will be required to collect tickets and must align with registration details. You will not be able to nominate a third party or person to collect tickets on your behalf. When purchasing tickets and arranging travel plans, please allow plenty of time to collect your tickets in advance of your first sport session. NZOT recommend allowing 48 hours prior to the beginning of your first event to collect your tickets.
Except in special circumstances NZOT does not recommend requesting tickets for the days of arrival and departure as transportation timings are not yet finalised and, even when confirmed are subject to change. In the case that you do make a request for tickets on these days and the timings of the flight, other means of transportation and/or the event are changed, NZOT cannot be held liable for any refunds or for meeting any expenses or costs you incur as a result.
Your tickets are non-refundable. If an event session is cancelled, curtailed or postponed by Tokyo 2020 after it has commenced, ticket holders will not have the automatic right to exchange their tickets or receive a refund partial or otherwise except at Tokyo 2020’s sole discretion. If it is determined that the session is refundable by Tokyo 2020, any refunds by NZOT to New Zealand ticket purchasers will be less the handling fee and will only be payable after the funds have been received from Tokyo 2020.
NZOT reserves the right to not replace or accept any Ticket that has been lost, stolen, forgotten, damaged or forged, or any Ticket which is unreadable or incomplete, as set out in the Tokyo 2020 Terms & Conditions of Ticket Purchase and Use.
If a session is cancelled or postponed prior to commencement no refunds will be given and no credit is available if the date of any rescheduled event conflicts with other tickets that have been purchased or can no longer be used due to travel plans. NZOT cannot and does not accept liability for any representations made, disappointment or costs incurred as a result of the cancellation, curtailment or postponement of events by Tokyo 2020.
If a session is cancelled, NZOT will use reasonable efforts to communicate such cancellation in advance to the Ticket Purchaser, after receiving advice from Tokyo 2020. It is the Ticket Purchaser’s responsibility to ascertain whether a session has been cancelled, and the most up to date information can be found on www.tokyo2020.orgTokyo 2020 nor NZOT do not guarantee that Ticket Purchasers will be informed of such cancellation before the date of the Session concerned.
When allocating seats, NZOT will endeavour to seat clients together where possible, but cannot guarantee that this will be possible in every case, even in ticket purchases as small as two (2) tickets. If clients submit separate ticket requests, it will not be possible for us to process these requests at the same time in order that the whole group will be seated together. Any tickets purchased through another programme (Friends and Family or directly through Tokyo 2020) will not be seated near tickets purchased through NZOT.
Tickets may not be offered for resale or assigned to other persons, except by NZOT. Ticket purchasers are advised that any attempt to resell tickets personally, or through a third party other than NZOT, or offering any ticket for sale for an amount in excess of its face value, will result in ticket cancellation and may be subject to criminal or civil action, as per the Tokyo 2020 Terms and Conditions of Ticket Purchase and Use.

This prohibition includes but is not limited to the promotion of any entity, person, product or service. If such approval is not granted prior to making an application for tickets, NZOT reserves the right to refuse to supply the tickets and to retain all payments made in respect of them. In addition, NZOT will not be liable for any costs, expenses, losses or other sums incurred as a result of its refusal to supply the tickets. Further, NZOT cannot be held liable for any costs, expenses, losses or other sums which may be incurred by a third party which seeks to undertake an unauthorised promotion, but is subsequently forced to cancel the said promotion because NZOT refuses to supply the tickets.
The Tokyo 2020 Terms and Conditions of Ticket Purchase and Use in regards to using Tickets for promotional or other commercial purposes apply.
The numbering and arrangement of seating at all venues as well as the allocation and location of particular ticket categories/prices is the sole responsibility of Tokyo 2020. NZOT only receives its assigned tickets from Tokyo 2020 shortly before the start of the event and has no control over where these seats are allocated at the different venues. NZOT has no recourse to Tokyo 2020 to be able to alter the seats that it has been assigned. NZOT is not able to check the locations of, or view from, any particular seat and allocates tickets in good faith amongst our clients on the basis that the seats comply with Tokyo 2020 pricing bands and provide a view which is appropriate to this pricing band.
