PARIS 2024 OLYMPIC GAMES

A new approach to Olympic Games ticketing and hospitality

As a valued customer of New Zealand Olympic Travel and a supporter of the New Zealand Team, we wanted to let you know of a new approach to Olympic Games ticketing and packages.

For Paris and beyond, a single global ticket and hospitality package provider – On Location – has been appointed.

In addition each Games Organising Committee will be selling tickets directly via a Global Ballot.

This new approach will enable all proceeds from tickets and hosting to go back to the hosts of the Games and ensure everyone throughout the world has the same level of access to them.

This decision was made by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), together with the Organising Committees of the Paris and LA Olympic Games and Milano Cortina Winter Olympic Games.

So, what does this mean for you?

Paris 2024 Hospitality Program

For New Zealanders, On Location will be the exclusive and official Hospitality Provider of the Olympic Games. These packages will include tickets and at least one other service, e.g. accommodation, in-venue hospitality, tourist products etc. These packages will no longer be available from New Zealand Olympic Travel.

The New Zealand Olympic Committee are currently working with On Location to develop packages specific to the needs of New Zealand Team Supporters which we look forward to sharing with you in 2023.

Ticket-only purchases – Paris 2024 Organising Committee

The Paris 2024 Organising Committee is facilitating a global ballot for Olympic Games ticket only purchases. The process to secure these tickets has three phases:

Phase 1: Registration for the Ballot. This registration is open and closes on 31 January 2023. If you wish to have the chance to purchase tickets through the global ballot, you must register to do so.

Phase 2: The first ballot window which enables you to Make Your Games pack will take place in February 2023. This ballot lets you create your own Games experience by selecting three sessions of your choice (depending on what is available).

Phase 3: The second ballot window will be in May 2023 and is for single ticket purchases.

Register now for the Paris 2024 global ticketing ballot

To access tickets through the ballot, or subsequent ticket sales, you must register.

Club Paris 2024

You also have the opportunity to join the global Club Paris 2024. If you do so, you will join others around the world in securing priority access to the ballot. This is a marketing forum where your membership includes granting rights to the IOC to market their products and services to you. Members of the Club Paris 2024 have the chance to go into a priority phase of the first ballot.

Friends and Family Ticketing

As has been the case at previous Olympic Games, the official friends and family ticketing programme has guaranteed two tickets per session (or in some cases one if venue space is constrained) for each athlete to pass on to their supporters. This programme will continue for Paris 2024 with details to be confirmed in 2023.

Specific Support for New Zealand Team Supporters

While New Zealand Olympic Travel (NZOT) will no longer be providing ticketing or hospitality packages for the Olympic Games, here at the New Zealand Team, we are still focussed on how we can provide support for friends, whanau and supporters.

This may extend to providing New Zealand Team supporters help identifying accommodation options or more generally with air travel and other services.

And of course, NZOC are also working on creating an incredible New Zealand House in Paris where we can come together to celebrate and meet our athletes and share in their success. NZOC will also continue to create other events and activities to celebrate and support our New Zealand Team both locally and abroad.

What about future costs?

As you will know, Paris is one of the most expensive cities in the world, and during the Olympic Games we expect demand for services to be incredibly high. In addition, we’ll be working with two new global ticketing and package providers (On Location and the Paris 2024 Organising Committee) rather than through a bespoke New Zealand service. As such, early indications are that there is the potential for costs to be greater than we might have experienced in the past.

Please rest assured that NZOC are working closely with On Location to ensure that any increases in costs are kept to a minimum so that all New Zealand Team Supporters are able to travel to a Games no matter their circumstance or budget. There are also a broad range of ticket options and costs via the global ballot.
